It's never been this way, but Apple have confirmed the launch event date for it's brand new iPhone 5 series.
Invitations are starting to reach the most influential people in technology world, and the date is all set for 12 September, 2012. Many people still clearly remember the anti-climatic launch of the iPhone 4S this time last year. However, this time around, it definitely will be a brand new smartphone revealed to the world.
Interestingly, there are some rumors that the upcoming phone might not be called an iPhone 5 at all. (Remember iPad HD and the 'new iPad?). But rumors aside, we most probably will see a numbered series (iPhone 5) to continue the trend of smartphones by Apple.
New Features?
So what can we all expect from the iPhone 5. For starters, it will have a smaller dock connection, a much larger length screen (not to mention thin), and the feature of no NFC (near field communication), which will help customers to buy products and pay for them at stores.
Having said all that, we must all keep in mind that this is Apple we are talking about. It's past record when it comes to launch events and keeping things under wrap have been extremely questionable and who knows what might be in store for Apple fans on September 12.
Only time will tell!
