Once again, Facebook has come out with an 'annoying' feature that yet again limits the reach potential for both individuals and business alike on the popular social network.
With the way they're tweaking the settings on Facebook nowadays, you would think they really want to intentionally drive people away from the network. We have tried out the so called 'new' Facebook Promoted post feature and we have to say, it's disappointing and a blatant waste of money.
Facebook argues, that many brands were being lost in the scurry of news posts in the user's own feed and the Promoted Posts feature tries to solve that issue. Convenient. Now you have to pay Facebook to your page's own fans. Read again. You're own fans, people who already have liked your page. You're paying Facebook to reach out to them, which should be free anyways.
But even so, if you're still willing to throw away a bit of bucks, here's a few things you need to consider.
1. Keep your targeting relevant
For some reason, when you activate a promoted post, Facebook targets it to not only the US, it also puts a whole lot of irrelevant countries. Be sure to remove them!
2. Keep the Auto-post feature in check.
So when you're done through a marketing campaign, be sure to deactivate it. Because Facebook has an auto post your recent post feature enabled automatically. Won't be a nice thing to wake up one morning and seeing your credit card maxed out.
3. Renaming Ad campaigns for better understanding
Facebook normally assigns its own unique name and number of a new ad campaign. However, you can easily change that to your own liking, even while the campaign is active and running. That can help you sort out your various campaigns or even order them as a numbered list.
